Police nab seven murder-accused in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Seven individuals have been apprehended on suspicion of involvement in the tragic killing of policeman Yubaraj Ghimire.

They were formally presented to the public today.

The arrested individuals include Sachin Pariyar, 21, also known as Aaite, from Chagunarayan Municipality-1 in Bhaktapur; Anjali Shrestha, 18, from Dupcheshwor Rural Municipality-1 in Nuwakot; Basundhara Karki, 21, from Aandhikhola Rural Municipality-3, Syanga; Nunmaya Karki, 56, also from Aandhikhola; Buddha Lama Tamang, 21, from Okhare of Tani Rural Municipality-4 in Nuwakot; Amrit Tamang, 30, also known as Dorje, from Indrawati Rural Municipality-1, Sindhupalchowk; and a 13-year-old boy, as reported by Senior Superintendent of Police Basant Rajaure.

Ghimire, who hailed from Majuwagadhi Rural Municipality-1 in Khotang, was stationed at the Traffic Police Sector, Durbar Marg.

All the suspects were temporarily residing in Manmaiju.

Ghimire’s body was discovered in Manmaiju of Tarkeshwor-9, Kathmandu, concealed beneath a mattress on the ground floor of an under-construction house, according to the police.
