KATHMANDU: Disarray enveloped the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting as the task force, tasked with defining the Terms of Reference (TOR) for a committee probing cooperative fund misappropriation, failed to find common ground.

Despite initial consensus between the ruling and opposition parties to form an investigative committee, the complexity surrounding the committee’s jurisdiction now looms large.

Since Sunday morning, members of the task force grappled with discussions, yet by 11 am, no resolution emerged.

Following an unsuccessful attempt at consensus during a meeting held at the Ministry of Law in Singha Durbar, Nepali Congress Chief Whip, Ramesh Lekhak, stepped into the deliberations.

The meeting of the four-member task force, which commenced on Sunday morning, found itself at an impasse.

An official from the Parliament Secretariat stated that the prospects of the Parliament advancing without the working group’s consensus appear slim.

Previously, on Saturday evening, leaders from both the ruling and opposition factions had reached an accord to establish the probe committee.
