Opposition parties hold meeting ahead of HoR session

KATHMANDU: The opposition parties are currently meeting to forge a common stance on forming a parliamentary committee and resolving the parliamentary impasse.

The meeting is taking place ahead of the scheduled House of Representatives (HoR) session.

The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has been obstructing meetings of both the lower and upper houses, demanding a parliamentary committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in a cooperative fraud case.

Recently, other opposition parties, including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, have also supported this demand.

With an agreement now reached between the ruling and opposition parties to form the probe committee, today’s HoR meeting, scheduled for 11 AM, is expected to proceed smoothly.
