Lawmaker Hasina Khan takes oath of office and secrecy

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-elected lawmaker, Hasina Khan.

Khan secured her position as a Member of the House of Representatives through the proportional representation electoral system.

Speaker Ghimire conducted the oath-taking ceremony for Khan at the Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar today.

During the event, the Speaker presented the Parliament’s logo to Khan and congratulated her on her successful election as a Member of Parliament.

According to Parliament’s regulations, all newly-elected Members of Parliament must take the oath of office and secrecy before the Speaker before participating in parliamentary sessions.

Padma Prasad Pandeya, the Secretary-General of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to Khan.

He also provided her with a copy of the Constitution of Nepal, the Parliament Regulations, and other relevant documents.

The 29-year-old Khan, representing the Janata Samajbadi Party, was elected to fill the vacant post following the passing of Manju Ansari Sharma. Khan holds a Bachelor’s degree.

“I am committed to fulfilling my duties as a lawmaker effectively, with a special focus on advocating for women’s issues in parliament,” she stated.

Born in Pokharbhindi, Rohini rural municipality in Rupandehi district, lawmaker Khan currently resides in Duduwa rural municipality-3 of Banke district, where she is actively engaged in her work.
