KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) convened a meeting of its office bearers on Tuesday to address the situation surrounding Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

According to party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, discussions centered on the recent arrest of Mahara, the former Speaker and Vice Chairman of the party, in connection with a suspected involvement in a gold smuggling case.

Despite Mahara’s arrest in Bhairahawa on Monday, the party has yet to reach a verdict regarding his status.

Reports indicate that Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has recommended Mahara’s resignation, but no final decision has been made on suspending him from his post.
