Commitment from all stakeholders essential for functional democracy: Vice President

KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav emphasized that the commitment needed for the effectiveness of democracy extends beyond the government to encompass all political parties, civil society, the private sector, and the media.

In a message released today on the occasion of National Democracy Day, the Vice President stated that democracy is the only viable alternative to itself, and everyone should approach it with a positive mindset.

Reflecting on this day as a historic moment, he acknowledged its significance in achieving success during the people’s movement in 2007 BS, which brought an end to the 104-year-long oligarchic Rana regime through the sacrifices of the people.

In his message, the Vice President extended wishes of happiness, peace, and prosperity to all Nepali sisters and brothers, both at home and abroad, on this auspicious occasion.

Vice President Yadav also took a moment to remember and express condolences to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the people’s movement, Madhes movement, indigenous nationalities movement, and other historical events that occurred at various stages, all in the pursuit of democracy.
