Establishing a prosperous world requires crucial role from NAM: PM Dahal
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the pivotal role of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for a just and prosperous world. Addressing the 19th Summit of NAM held in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday, the Prime Minister stated that NAM is poised to play a significant and just role in sustainability and prosperity. Prime Minister Dahal underscored the continual values, significance, and principles upheld by NAM, considering them sacred for Nepal.
EC seeks tightened security measures for NA election
The Election Commission (EC) directed the government and the Home Ministry to coordinate with District Administration Offices for the movement of candidates and voters in the National Assembly election on January 25. The government is tasked with ensuring security along routes to polling stations and residential areas of Provincial Assembly members, rural municipality chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, mayors, and deputy mayors.
Businessman Naresh Agrawal arrested for alleged tax evasion in Kathmandu
In a recent development, the Department of Revenue Investigation apprehended businessman Naresh Agrawal on Thursday night from Chetrapati on charges related to tax evasion. The police conducted a raid during which Rs 20 million in cash was seized. Agrawal is accused of engaging in tax evasion through the trading of gold and the use of hundi, an informal money transfer system.
SC declines to impose restrictions on security personnel using metal bullets
The Supreme Court has rejected a plea to issue an order restricting security personnel from using metal bullets and other potentially lethal equipment to control public gatherings and demonstrations. During a hearing on a writ petition presented by senior advocate Dinesh Triphati, Justice Kumar Chundal declined to issue an interim order.
Ballot papers transported to polling stations for upcoming NA election
In preparation for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election scheduled for January 25, the Election Commission has successfully transported 6,910 ballot papers of 38 types to the respective Election Officers’ offices in all seven provinces. These ballot papers have been printed in accordance with the approved design and standards.
