Ballot papers transported to polling stations for upcoming NA election



KATHMANDU: In preparation for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election scheduled for January 25, the Election Commission has successfully transported 6,910 ballot papers of 38 types to the respective Election Officers’ offices in all seven provinces.

These ballot papers have been printed in accordance with the approved design and standards. The election will involve province assembly members, chairpersons, vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities, mayors, and deputy mayors of municipalities, who will serve as voters for the 19 available seats.

For province assembly members, a white ballot paper with green ink and election symbols has been printed, while for the chairpersons, vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities, mayors, and deputy mayors of municipalities, a white paper with red ink and corresponding election symbols has been produced.

Deputy Spokesperson at the Commission, Shreedhar Panthi, explained that based on the number of the electoral college and the vacant posts, various types of ballot papers have been transported to the provinces.

For example, there are four types of 920 ballot papers for two posts in Koshi Province, four types of 940 ballot papers for two posts in Madhes Province, and eight types of 1,760 ballot papers for four posts in the Bagmati Province.

Similarly, there are four types of 740 ballot papers for two posts in Lumbini Province, six types of 750 ballot papers for three posts in Karnali Province, and six types of 900 ballot papers for three posts in Sudurpaschim Province.
