SAFF Women’s Championship: Nepal set to face Bhutan

KATHMANDU: The home team, Nepal, is set to face Bhutan in today’s match of the SAFF Women’s Championship today (Friday).

India, the title contender and SAFF’s most successful team, has kicked off the championship with a strong performance.

In the opening match on Thursday, India secured a convincing 5-2 victory over Pakistan, reaffirming its status as a title contender.

Today, Nepal will look to overcome Bhutan in a match scheduled to start at 5:30 pm.

This marks the seventh edition of the championship, where Nepal has reached the finals five times, finishing as the runner-up on four occasions.

Notably, Nepal has made it to the final in every edition except for 2016.

As the tournament returns home for the third consecutive time, there is a heightened expectation for Nepal to claim the title, especially after their recent successes in the SAFF series.

The Nepali women’s team aims for a strong start against Bhutan, but the challenge is significant.

Bhutan’s squad has shown remarkable improvement recently, becoming a stronger competitor.

Previously, Bhutan was easily defeated by Nepal, but now they pose a serious threat, thanks to continuous training and performance enhancements.

In contrast, Nepal’s team has not seen as much improvement, making this matchup particularly challenging.
