Nepal kicks off SAFF U-20 Championship with 1-0 victory over Sri Lanka



KATHMANDU: Nepal began their SAFF U-20 Championship campaign with a 1-0 win against Sri Lanka in the tournament’s opening match.

The match’s only goal, scored by Nirajan Dham in the first half, proved decisive.

This victory puts Nepal in a strong position to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the championship.

Nepal will face Bangladesh in their second group stage match on Thursday.

In the other group stage matches, India will play against Bhutan on Monday.

The tournament features six nations divided into two groups: Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in Group ‘A’, and India, Maldives, and Bhutan in Group ‘B’.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
