Karnali Bridge opens for traffic



KAILALI: The Karnali Bridge that was closed since an incident of fire has been opened for traffic today.

The bridge was opened for traffic after an assessment was made of the damage caused by the incident of fire that originated from a truck loaded with gas lighters.

The bridge has been opened for traffic after an on-site assessment and in consultation with experts who said that travelling across the bridge was not a problem, said Engineer Niraj Shakya of Road Division Office, Nepalgunj.

The wire ropes holding the signature bridge had caught fire in the incident that took place last Monday.

The bridge was subsequently closed for traffic, before an expert team from the road division office came to inspect the damage.
