SURKHET: An initiative has been started to make the services provided by various government offices of Karnali accessible to people with hearing difficulties.

Accordingly, training on sign language has been started for employees working in various government offices of the province.

A three-month sign language interpreter training began here on Sunday at the joint initiative of Karnali Province Ministry of Social Development and Birendranagar Municipality, with support from Bheri Deaf Association Surkhet.

A total of 16 employees from different wards of Birendranagar municipality, District Court Surkhet, Karnali Province Police Office and other offices are participating in the training.

President of Bheri Deaf Association, Namrata Bharati, stated that people with hearing impairment had difficulty in accessing government services due to non-availability of sign language communications.
