ACC Women’s U-19: Nepal ties with India due to rain, finishes group runner-up



KATHMANDU: Nepal and India shared points after Tuesday’s match in the ACC Women’s U-19 Cricket Tournament was abandoned due to rain.

Chasing Nepal’s target of 95 runs, India had scored 28 runs without losing a wicket in 3.1 overs when the match was interrupted by rain at Malaysia’s Biomass Cricket Ground.

With the match unable to resume, both teams were awarded one point each. Despite tying on 3 points in Group ‘B’, India topped the group on net run rate while Nepal finished as the runner-up.

Earlier, after losing the toss, Nepal batted first and managed 94 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Captain Pooja Mahato scored 25, and Alisha Yadav contributed 20 runs, while no other batter reached double digits.

India’s Parunika Sisodia took 4 wickets for her team.

From Group ‘B’, Bangladesh topped the group, and Sri Lanka secured second place to qualify for the semi-finals.

Nepal will now face Sri Lanka on Thursday and Bangladesh on Friday in the final four stage.
