NPL: Playoffs begin Wednesday; final set for Saturday

KATHMANDU: With the league stage of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) concluded, the playoffs are set to kick off on Wednesday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. There will be no matches on Tuesday.

The Eliminator match will feature Chitwan Rhinos and Karnali Yaks, who finished third and fourth in the points table, respectively, with eight points each. The match will begin at 9 am on Wednesday. The winner will stay in the title race, while the losing team will be eliminated.

In the first qualifier match, table-toppers Sudurpaschim Royals will face second-placed Janakpur Bolts at 1 pm on Wednesday.

The winner of this match will secure a place in the final, while the loser will get another chance in the second qualifier.

The second qualifier is scheduled for 12 pm on Thursday, where the loser of the first qualifier will play the winner of the eliminator. The winner of this match will advance to the NPL final on Saturday at 12 pm.

The NPL champions will receive a cash prize of Rs 11 million, while the runner-up will take home Rs 5 million. The third-placed team will receive Rs 3 million, and the fourth-placed team will get Rs 2 million, according to the organizers.
