Former Speaker Damannath Dhungana passes away

KATHMANDU: Former Speaker Damannath Dhungana has passed away.

He died on Sunday afternoon while receiving treatment at Frontline Hospital in Kathmandu. Dhungana had been battling lung cancer.

He served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2048 BS and was a prominent advocate for human rights.

Dhungana was elected to the House of Representatives representing the Nepali Congress from Kathmandu in the 2048 BS general election, after which he took on the role of Speaker.
