KATHMANDU: The Chandragiri Cable Car, which had come to a halt due to a power outage, resumed operations after approximately two hours on Sunday afternoon.
Around 75 passengers were stranded in eight cable car cabins from 1:30 pm due to the power disruption.
According to the Metropolitan Police Circle Thankot, the company attempted to operate a generator to rescue the stranded passengers.
However, as the generator failed to start, the police assisted in manually pulling the cable cars to the lower station.
Due to the generator’s failure, police from the Thankot Circle and an 11-member team from the Armed Police Force’s Pashupatinath Battalion were dispatched to assist in the rescue operation.
Armed Police Force spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa confirmed that their team helped by manually pulling the cable cars to lower the stranded passengers.
By 3:45 pm, all passengers from the eight cabins had been safely rescued and brought to the lower station.
The cable car service resumed operation shortly thereafter.
