Opposition parties unite to demand parliamentary probe into cooperative fraud case



KATHMANDU: Opposition parties have united in demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s involvement in a cooperative fraud case.

A joint meeting, convened by the Nepali Congress this afternoon, concluded with a resolution to push for the establishment of a probe committee.

The meeting also decided to bring this demand to the attention of Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire.

“The opposition parties have united to demand the formation of a probe committee,” stated Gyanendra Shahi, Chief Whip of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

Participants in the meeting included:

  • Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, and Raj Kishwor Yadav
  • Buddi Man Tamang, Vice Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi
  • Mahantha Thakur, Chairman of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party
  • Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist)
