HoR meeting delayed following NC’s demand

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) scheduled for 11 am on Friday has been delayed following a request from the main opposition party, Nepali Congress.

Initially convened by the Parliament Secretariat for 11 a.m. on Friday, the meeting had been adjourned amidst escalating tensions on Thursday.

However, the Speaker’s Secretariat announced the postponement citing the engagement of Nepali Congress in discussions with other opposition parties.

The meeting, which commenced after 4 p.m. on Thursday, witnessed Nepali Congress MPs staging a protest.

Tensions further escalated when Speaker Devraj Ghimire allowed Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to address the assembly, leading to a physical altercation between ruling and opposition MPs.
