Singer Rabi Oad released on bail of Rs 500,000



KATHMANDU: Singer Rabi Oad, who was arrested on charges of marital rape, has been released on bail of Rs 500,000.

The Kanchanpur District Court granted Oad bail, and he was released on Thursday evening.

Oad had surrendered at the Area Police Office in Jhalari following the accusation.

Subsequently, the police remanded him in custody for five days to investigate the case.

Rabi Oad gained prominence as a Nepalese singer, actor, and dancer after winning the second season of the TV series Nepal Idol.

The complaint against him was lodged by his wife on April 2 at the Area Police Office in Jhalari, according to Inspector Pushkar Pant, spokesperson for the District Police Office in Kanchanpur.
