UML and Maoist Center jointly holding an electoral gathering ahead of Ilam by-election today

KATHMANDU: In a strategic move aimed at consolidating their electoral prospects, the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) are convening a joint electoral gathering today in Ilam-2 constituency, ahead of the upcoming by-election.

The gathering, slated to take place at Mangalbare in Deumai Municipality, will feature addresses from prominent leaders including CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, along with party stalwarts Ram Bahadur Thapa, Yogesh Bhattarai, and Raghu Bir Mahaseth, among others.

The event holds particular significance as it aims to rally support for Suhang Nembang, the CPN-UML’s candidate for the upcoming by-election scheduled on April 27.

Nembang, the son of late party leader Subhash Nembang, represents the CPN-UML’s bid to secure victory in the constituency.

Notably, Nembang’s candidacy is bolstered by the support of CPN (Maoist Center), Nepal Communist Party, and Nepal Pariwar Dal, reflecting a unified front among left-wing political forces in the region.

In contrast, the Nepali Congress, the primary opposition party, has put forward Dambar Bahadur Khadka as its candidate, while the Rastriya Swatantra Party has nominated Milan Limbu to contest the by-election.
