KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has instructed relevant authorities to promptly take action against individuals implicated in the gold smuggling case, including former speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
Home Minister Lamichhane directed Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Inspector General of Police Basanta Kuwar, and Chief of the Crime Investigation Bureau Shyam Gwayali to expeditiously execute the recommendations of the Gold Smuggling Commission report.
The Gold Smuggling Probe Commission has recommended filing a case against seven individuals, including former Speaker of Parliament Krishna Bahadur Mahara, in connection with a 60kg gold smuggling case involving the use of vape.
During an interaction program, Home Minister Lamichhane also mandated initiating the process to transfer ownership of the land Bansbari Leather Shoe to the government.
In a previous Cabinet meeting held on Friday, it was decided to promptly implement the probe commission’s report.
