Dr. Baburam Bhattarai calls NSP’s emergency meeting

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has called an emergency meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee.

Dr. Bhattarai summoned the meeting following the announcement of leaders, including Mahindra Ray Yadav and Ganga Narayan Shrestha, defecting to the CPN-Maoist Center.

Yesterday, Yadav’s faction consented to splinter from the party and merge with the Maoist Center.

Essentially, the same matter will dominate discussions during the Executive Committee meeting.

In the presence of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday morning, Yadav, Shrestha, and others from NSP agreed on four points and declared their intent to consolidate the party.

Dr. Bhattarai highlighted that Yadav and Shrestha’s agreement circumvented the party’s decision-making process, signaling that both may face repercussions during today’s meeting.
