Counterfeit alcohol production exposed in Kathmandu, nine apprehended



KATHMANDU: A covert operation led by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has revealed the existence of a counterfeit alcohol production facility in the heart of Kathmandu.

The clandestine operation was being conducted within the premises of a residential house situated in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-5.

Authorities report that the discovered facility was manufacturing imitation brands of substandard alcohol, which were being illicitly distributed at discounted prices.

Following the investigation, law enforcement successfully apprehended nine individuals linked to the operation.

Among those detained are Manoj Khatri, Mahesh Khatri, Manish Khatri, and Binod Kumar Karki from Ramechhap, Mohan Khadka and Roshan Karki from Sindhupalchok, Gaurav Tamang and Lekh Bikram Thapa from Sindhuli, and Suman Nagarkoti from Kathmandu.

Acting on intelligence received, the police conducted a targeted raid on the residence rented by Binod Kumar Karki.

During the operation, they seized a variety of forged alcohol brands, including Khukri Rum, Golden Oak, Fighter, Signature, and 365 Black.

Additionally, materials used in the manufacturing process of these spurious alcoholic beverages were confiscated.
