Limi police outpost moved to Simkot due to growing cold

SIMKOT (HUMLA: The police outpost at Limi has been shifted to Simkot, the district headquarters, after temperature started falling at Limi, a high altitude area, with the onset of winter.

All police personnel manning the outpost located at Sunkhani Limi of Namkha Rural Municipality-6 in northern region of Humla district have arrived in Simkot, as travel in the area becomes difficult due to the thick snow cover.

Temperature starts to plummet in Limi from mid-October and supplying foodstuffs is difficult during the winter, which is why the police outpost at Limi has to be shifted to the district headquarters every year, said Deputy Superintendent of the District Police Office Humla, Rabindra Khanal.

The police personnel set out for Simkot on November 6. Limi is nearly 200 kilometres from Simkot.

The police outpost was set up for policing at Til, Halji and Janga, the three villages in Limi and to check cross-border crimes likely to take place through the Lapcha transit point on the border with Tibet.
