AKB Center at B&B Hospital Conducts 7th B&B Arthroscopy Course

KATHMANDU: AKB Center at B&B Hospital organized the 7th B&B Arthroscopy Course from July 4th to 6th, 2024, in Kathmandu. The previous six editions exclusively focused on knee surgery.

However, this edition concentrated solely on shoulder ailments and related diseases.

According to Dr. Nagmani Singh (trained in Australia for shoulder surgeries), the format was altered because the team observed a lack of medical knowledge in shoulder surgery specific to Nepal.

Dr. Singh emphasized the need to shift the focus to shoulder disease management, aiming to enhance the knowledge of orthopedic surgeons and future specialists in shoulder pathology management.

The course aimed to equip surgeons with the necessary knowledge to manage various shoulder conditions at par with international standards.

Renowned national orthopedic surgeons and globally recognized shoulder specialists convened to discuss various aspects of shoulder problems and share their insights.

A team of internationally recognized shoulder surgeons from Brisbane, Australia, led by Dr. Kenneth Cutbush and Dr. Ashish Gupta, alongside Dr. Kapil Kumar from the UK and several faculty members from India (Dr. Ashish Babhulkar, Dr. Vivek Pandey, Dr. Bhupesh Karthik, Dr. Mukesh Laddha, and Dr. Prathmesh Jain) served as keynote speakers for the event.

The three-day international conference featured four live surgeries, a pre-course, didactic lectures, debates, and panel discussions exclusively focusing on shoulder ailments.

The conference was highly successful, attracting participation from over 140 surgeons from across Nepal.

The AKB Center (B&B Hospital) plans to conduct this B&B Arthroscopy Course annually, alternating between conferences focusing on knee and shoulder joints each year.
