PYUTHAN: A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for the construction of a school and hostel building for Dang-Bang Secondary School in Airawati Rural Municipality-1, Pyuthan.

The project is funded by the Indian government under the Nepal-India Development Cooperation program.

Airawati Rural Municipality Chairperson Nabil Bikram Shah and Prashant Kumar Sona, of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, jointly laid the foundation stone.

The project, supported by a Rs 33.9 million grant from the Indian government, aims to enhance educational facilities in the region.

The event was attended by political representatives, government officials, social workers, school management representatives, teachers, parents, and students.

The grant will be used for the construction of the school and hostel buildings, along with other necessary facilities.

This initiative is part of a bilateral agreement between Nepal and India, implemented as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

The project will be executed through the Airawati Rural Municipality.

Local leaders and school management officials expressed their appreciation for the Indian government’s ongoing support in critical development sectors for the upliftment of the Nepalese people.

The new school and hostel facilities are expected to provide quality education and accommodation for students, creating a better learning environment and contributing to the educational development of the region.

Since 2003, the Indian government has initiated over 551 High Impact Community Development Projects across various sectors in Nepal, with 490 projects already completed.

Among these, 61 projects, including two in Pyuthan, are in Lumbini province.
