UML leader Bhattarai accuses govt of favoritism in FY budget

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML, a coalition partner in Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government, has voiced continuous dissatisfaction with the budget for the fiscal year 2024/25.

Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli has been publicly expressing his discontent with the budget in recent days, a sentiment echoed by other party leaders.

Addressing the House of Representatives (HoR), Yogesh Bhattarai asserted that the government has prioritized projects serving their own interests in the new budget.

“The budget has favored projects from a ‘Pocket Bank’ rather than a ‘Project Bank’,” Bhattarai stated.

“The projects included in the budget should have been selected from the Project Bank, but the recent budget has failed to do so.”

Bhattarai also criticized the government for allegedly using the budget to garner votes in upcoming elections, warning that such strategies will not yield positive results.
