KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has disclosed ongoing discussions among political parties to unlock the impasse in parliament.
He made these remarks following the adjournment of the House of Representatives meeting scheduled for 11 am on Thursday, briefly talking to media.
Oli noted that the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has agreed to allow Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to address today’s parliament meeting.
“Discussions are underway to run the parliament smoothly. Nepali Congress will allow the Home Minister to speak? Why can’t parliamentarians speak in parliament?” he questioned.
Nepali Congress is pressing for the formation of a parliamentary probe committee against Home Minister Lamichhane, who also serves as the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Conversely, Speaker Lamichhane is insisting on his right to address the Parliament.
A party leader revealed that Nepali Congress has devised a strategy to unblock parliament by permitting the Home Minister to speak first, followed by presenting their demands for the committee’s formation.
