KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is gearing up to host a month-long ‘Skill Fair’ starting May 1 at Tundikhel.

The skill fair, organized under KMC’s pride project, is being held in collaboration with the Federation of Professional Training and Employment of Nepal.

Bimala Koirala, Officiating Chief of KMC Social Development Department, revealed that an agreement has been reached between the department and the federation to conduct and manage the training.

The fair aims to provide training to 2,081 individuals across 36 professions in 10 sectors.

The Federation will oversee the recruitment of trainers, provision of materials and equipment, and demonstration sessions, all based on a curriculum approved by the KMC.

Koirala emphasized that the skill fair is expected to consolidate various skills and make skilled human resources readily available to employers.

The training is open to individuals aged between 18 to 58 years, with the aim of enabling 5,000 participants to become self-employed and providing employment-oriented training to 15,000 people.
