SRH shatter records with historic IPL victory over RCB

KATHMANDU: In a breathtaking display of batting prowess, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) scripted history in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by notching up the highest team total ever recorded in IPL history.

Facing off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, SRH blazed their way to an astonishing 287 for three, surpassing their own record set earlier in the season against the Mumbai Indians.

The match witnessed a relentless onslaught from the SRH batsmen right from the outset. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head set the tone with aggressive stroke play, piling on runs with remarkable ease.

Head’s explosive half-century off just 20 balls signaled SRH’s intentions early on, as he continued his onslaught to reach a sensational century off only 39 deliveries, the fourth fastest in IPL history.

Not to be outdone, Heinrich Klaasen joined the party with a blistering display of his own, accelerating SRH’s run rate with a brisk 67 off 31 balls.

Abdul Samad provided the finishing touches with a whirlwind unbeaten 37 off just 10 deliveries, propelling SRH to their record-breaking total.

Despite a valiant effort from the RCB batsmen, led by Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, who both notched up rapid half-centuries, the monumental target proved too daunting to chase down.

Dinesh Karthik’s heroic innings of 83 off 35 balls injected some late drama into the contest, but ultimately, RCB fell short, finishing at 262 for seven.

SRH’s victory, by a margin of 25 runs, showcased their dominance with the bat and highlighted the remarkable depth in their batting lineup.

With none of the bowlers able to contain the onslaught, the match served as a thrilling spectacle for IPL fans worldwide.

The historic win cements SRH’s position as a formidable force in the IPL, while RCB can take pride in their spirited performance despite the daunting challenge they faced.
