KMC initiates cleaning of Khula Manch (In Pictures)

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has embarked on an initiative to revitalize the public space, Khula Manch.

In an effort to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of this space, the KMC has undertaken a cleaning process.

The completion of the project involved the removal of over 10 lakh kg of accumulated concrete debris that had been left untouched for the past 10 months.

KMC Mayor Balen Shah emphasized the importance of ensuring Khula Manch remains open and accessible to all.

He expressed the vision of transforming the open platform into a versatile space, catering to various activities rather than being exclusive to any particular group or purpose.

Mayor Shah also highlighted the potential for Khula Manch to serve as a well-organized space, suitable for morning walks, yoga and meditation sessions, children’s playtime, leisure afternoons, as well as hosting demonstrations, protests, and creative programs.

He clarified that the goal is to make Khula Manch a hub for diverse activities that contribute to the well-being and enjoyment of the public.

Shah expressed his regret over the confusion caused by misinformation about the beautification efforts in Khula Manch.
