CoAS Sigdel returns from India visit



KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashok Raj Sigdel returned to Nepal on Sunday after being conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army during his four-day visit to India.

President of India, Droupadi Murmu, bestowed the honorary title upon him, continuing the longstanding tradition of mutual respect between the armies of Nepal and India.

During his visit, General Sigdel held separate meetings with India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Defence Secretary, and Foreign Secretary.

Invited by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, General Sigdel also participated as the chief guest at the final parade of officer cadets at an Indian military academy.
