Supreme Cooperative fraud case: Police recommend case against 28 people, including GB Rai and Dipesh Pun

KATHMANDU: The police have initiated an investigation into the Butwal based Supreme Savings and Credit Cooperative fraud case.

The investigation report was submitted to the District Government Attorney’s Office after the Butwal police concluded its inquiry on Friday.

According to the report, the police have recommended filing case against 28 individuals, including cooperative founder Gitendrababu (GB) Rai, be charged as defendants, while also suggesting legal action for recovering the demanded amount of Rs. 1.2 billion, as stated in the report.

The police opinion includes making the following individuals defendants: Om Prakash Gurung, President, along with Deepesh Kumar Pun, Kumar Ramtel, Durga Chapagai Pandey, Bhabishwar Aryal, Neeta Thapa, Deepak Nyaupane, Roshni Gurung.

Additionally, Sagar Kesi, Suraj Shrestha, Raju Baral, Dhiraj Kumar Das, Asav Ali Siddhiki, Buddhi Gurung, Ashish Anand, Mojahar Mohammad, Ligel Dhungana, Aubaadur Gurung, and Syanjik Rajbhandari, Bhupendra Rai, Hemant Adhikari, Kabita Tamang, and Navin Achhami are also recommended to be named as defendants in the police report.

Among them, Cooperative’s Chair Om Prakash Gurung, Durga Chapagai Pandey, and former treasurer Deepesh Pun have been arrested, while others, including GB, are still at large.
