CPN (Maoist Center) Statute Convention nears conclusion

KATHMANDU: The eagerly anticipated conclusion of the Statute Convention of the CPN (Maoist Center) is on the horizon, with Thursday marking the final day of deliberations.

Commencing on February 13, the convention witnessed the participation of Prime Minister and Chairman of the party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who introduced a draft for consideration.

In a structured approach to refine the draft, the party organized 20 specialized groups tasked with studying and presenting suggestions.

Thirteen of these groups have already presented their recommendations, with the remaining seven scheduled to unveil theirs today.

Emphasizing inclusivity and comprehensive input, the party aims to synthesize the diverse perspectives into a cohesive statute.

The final version will be crafted based on the amalgamation of suggestions from all 20 groups.

Anticipation runs high as the party prepares to endorse its statute and draw the convention to a close later this evening.

Key recommendations put forth by the groups include advocating for the adoption of a direct election system for leaders and proposing changes to the party’s name and symbol, among other crucial suggestions.

Today’s session is slated to commence at 11 am at Kamaladi.
