KATHMANDU: Despite the conclusion of hearings in the Lalita Niwas land grab case, the eagerly awaited verdict is expected to be announced today.

The anticipated announcement on Wednesday was deferred to Thursday, as the bench overseeing the case has yet to deliver its decision.

The prolonged trial, ongoing in the special court, concluded on Tuesday, leaving stakeholders and the public awaiting the judgment.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) initiated legal proceedings following its investigation into the case.

Previously, the Kathmandu District Court granted businessman Min Bahadur Gurung, arrested in connection with the case, release on a bond of Rs 24.6 million.

Judge Bholanath Dhakal’s bench granted bail to 17 accused individuals.

The charges revolve around the alleged improper transfer of government land in Lalita Niwas, Baluwatar, to private individuals, prompting legal action by the District Public Prosecutor’s Office for tampering with government documents.

Source said that Keshav Tuladhar was granted release on a regular basis, while other accused individuals received bail with varying amounts.
