Army clinches victory as Madhes faces defeat in PM’s Cup Cricket on Monday

KATHMANDU: In Monday’s match of the Prime Minister’s Cup National Cricket Tournament, Tribhuvan Army Club secured a convincing 126-run victory over Madhes.

After losing the toss at Tribhuvan Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Tribhuvan Army set a target of 320 runs, managing to score 320 runs for the loss of all wickets in the allocated 50 overs.

For the Army team, Captain Binod Bhandari played a remarkable innings, scoring 113 runs with nine fours and six sixes in just 93 balls. Opener Imran Sheikh contributed 26 runs, while another opener Santosh Karki was dismissed for 42. Kushal Malla and Bibek Yadav added 37 runs each.

For Madhes, Ranjit Kumar took the most wickets—five in his name, while Bishal Patel claimed two wickets, and Rupesh Singh and Rajesh Yadav secured one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 321 runs, Madhes faced a setback as they were bowled out for 194 runs in 48.3 overs. Pawan Sarraf was the highest scorer for Madhes, contributing 65 runs. He struck seven fours and three sixes.

Opener Mayan Yadav scored 34 runs, while another opener Anil Shah added 12. Rupesh Singh managed just 1 run, Bishal Patel scored 17, and Rajesh Yadav remained unbeaten at 32.

For the Army, Sahab Alam claimed the most wickets with four, while Sompal Kami took two wickets. Jitendra Mukhiya and Kushal Malla secured one wicket each.

This victory marks the first defeat for Madhes, which had clinched a 7-wicket victory against Koshi in the first match, and it’s the first match for Tribhuvan Army in the tournament.
