PM Oli warns of contract termination if Narayangadh-Butwal road work delayed

Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli has assured that the delay in the construction of the Narayangadh-Butwal road section of the Mahendra Highway will be resolved soon.

During discussions at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar with relevant ministers, officials from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and concerned lawmakers, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that if work does not commence by mid-December, the government will have no choice but to terminate the contract with the Chinese company responsible for the project.

He stressed that if the company proves reliable, it would be preferable to continue with the contractor.

Parliamentary Committee to discuss PM Oli’s China visit

A meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives has been scheduled to discuss Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming visit to China.

The committee will convene at 11 am on Sunday in its meeting room at Singha Durbar.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana has also been invited.

Rabi to be returned to Pokhara as investigation continues

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane is set to be returned to Pokhara by police on Thursday evening after completing recording his statement in Rupandehi.

According to an RSP Secretariat source, Lamichhane’s statement is expected to conclude by 4 PM, with plans for him to depart from Rupandehi on a 4:45 PM flight.

On Kartik 25, the Kaski District Court granted an additional 13-day remand for further investigation into Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in cooperative fraud.

Contempt of Court case filed against RSP leaders

A contempt of court case has been filed against 20 members of parliament, officials, and leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The Supreme Court has scheduled a preliminary hearing for this case on November 18, following a petition filed by advocate Anupam Bhattarai.

Previously, the Supreme Court had rejected this writ, but Judge Binod Sharma’s bench overturned the rejection on Tuesday, ordering the case to be registered.

President Paudel and his Azerbaijani counterpart hold bilateral meeting

President Ramchandra Paudel has urged all the developed countries to fulfill their commitment made to addressing the climate change impact.

President Paudel made this call during the bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev here today.

“Nepal has its full commitment to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Since Nepal has set the target of achieving the ‘zero carbon emission’ milestone by 2045, five years ahead of the globally-set target, we urge all the developed countries to fulfill their commitments that they have expressed in connection to addressing the climate change consequences,” Kiran Pokharel, the President’s Press Advisor, quoted President Paudel as saying in the bilateral meeting.

President Paduel leaves Baku for home

President Ramchandra Paudel, who arrived here on Monday, November 11 to attend the COP 29 conference underway here, left for Doha of Qatar en route to home.

Azerbaijan’s Minister for Health Teymur Musayev bade him farewell today at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. He arrived Baku leading a high-level delegation to the conference at the invitation of his Azerbaijani’s counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

The President’s entourage includes First Lady Sabita Paudel, along with key advisors, experts, and senior government officials.

Nagdhunga road to remain partially closed for week

The Nagdhunga road will be partially closed for a week, starting today, for slope cutting works on the Sisnekhola section of Dhading, leading towards the west portal of the Nagdhunga Tunnel under the Tribhuvan Highway.

In a notice issued today, the Nagdhunga Tunnel Way Construction Project announced that the road will be partially closed daily from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm until November 20.

However, during this time, the road will be closed on both ends for 20 minutes.

Gold price down by Rs 2,200 per tola today

Gold prices have dropped significantly today (Thursday).

Gold prices have been on a steady decline for the past five days. The price of gold fell by Rs. 2,200 per tola today.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Federation, the price of gold stands at Rs. 160,000 per tola today. Yesterday, the price was Rs. 162,200 per tola.

Gautam Buddha International Airport sees surge in international flights amid TIA upgrades 

As Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu begins its daily closures for upgradation work, international flight operations at Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini have surged.

With TIA now closed for 10 hours each day for expansion, flights are being redirected to Gautam Buddha International, leading to a notable increase in passenger traffic.

As international operations at Bhairahawa intensify, airlines such as Qatar Airways, Jazeera Airways, Nepal Airlines, Thai AirAsia, and FlyDubai are among those now arriving at the airport.
