Nepal U-19 women’s cricket team returning home today

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s U-19 women’s cricket team is returning home today after securing spots in both the 2025 World Cup and Asia Cup, to be held in Malaysia.

The team is scheduled to arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport at 6:15 PM, according to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, who also confirmed that preparations are underway to welcome them.

Nepal qualified for the World Cup after defeating the United Arab Emirates by eight wickets in the final match of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, held in the UAE. Out of six qualifying matches, Nepal won five and lost one.

The U-19 women’s team will also participate in the ACC U-19 Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia starting on Mangshir 30 (mid-December).

The tournament features six teams, with Nepal in Group A alongside India and Pakistan, while Group B includes Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.

Nepal is set to face Pakistan on Poush 1 and India on Poush 2.
