KATHMANDU: Nepali mountaineers who achieved the remarkable feat of climbing the 8,827-meter-high mountain Sisapang in neighboring China were welcomed in Kathmandu.

On Monday, climbers who set the record for scaling all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters were welcomed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), accompanied by traditional “Panchebaja”.

Dawa Yangjum Sherpa, who became the first Nepalese woman to summit all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters, was joined by Nima Rinji Sherpa, Tejan Sherpa, and Pasang Sherpa, all of whom have also successfully climbed each of these formidable peaks.

They received a heartfelt welcome from family, supporters, and members of the Nepal Mountaineering Association.

Following the reception, a celebratory procession took place, with the climbers being paraded through the city, passing through Baneshwar, Tripureshwar, Thamel, and concluding at Bhrikutimandap.
