Top leaders to address Parliament meeting today



KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) is convening today to expedite the passage of the amendment bill on Transitional Justice (TJ) through a ‘fast track’ process.

The meeting is scheduled for today afternoon at 1 p.m.

The report prepared by the Parliamentary Committee, following extensive discussion on the Bill (TRC) to amend the Investigation, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2071, was tabled at the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

During today’s meeting, the Parliament Secretariat has announced the agenda for presenting and discussing the bill.

Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya will lead the discussion on the proposal.

The long-awaited TRC Bill is expected to be addressed by key leaders, including Prime Minister KP Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Chairman of the Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Following the House of Representatives’ approval of the bill today, it will be presented to the National Assembly for passage tomorrow (Thursday).
