KATHMANDU: Biratnagar Kings have set a target of 182 runs for Chitwan Rhinos in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), having posted a total of 181 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
This total, boosted by an explosive innings from Bashir Ahmed, marks the third-highest target in the ongoing tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Lumbini had set a target of 192 runs against Biratnagar, while Sudurpaschim set a target of 183 runs for them.
In the second match on Friday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Biratnagar, who won the toss and elected to bat, finished with 181/5 in 20 overs.
The innings was largely driven by Bashir Ahmed, who top-scored with 68 runs. He hit 4 fours and 4 sixes off 44 balls, completing his half-century in just 39 balls.
At one point, Biratnagar were struggling at 33/4 in 6.2 overs. However, a crucial 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Bashir Ahmed and Martin helped stabilise the innings.
Chitwan’s chances of reaching the playoffs will increase if they win this match, but a defeat would significantly weaken their position.
