Foreign Minister Rana to visit China ahead of PM Oli’s trip

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana is visiting China to prepare for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming official visit.

According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rana is scheduled to depart for China in the last week of November.

Rana’s visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and she will help lay the groundwork for the Prime Minister’s trip.

She is also part of the team working on the arrangements for the visit.

Prime Minister Oli is expected to travel to China for an official visit starting December 1.

However, the Ministry has yet to make an official announcement regarding the trip.

Sources also indicated that it is still unclear whether Foreign Minister Rana will return to Nepal after her preparatory mission or if she will join the Prime Minister’s delegation in China.

This will be Rana’s first trip to China since taking office as Foreign Minister, and Prime Minister Oli’s visit will mark the first foreign trip of his third term in office.
