BAGLUNG: Ward Chair of Tityang of Baglung-9, Raju Thapa is actively engaged in professional fruit farming in addition to his responsibilities at the ward office.
As the Chair of Baglung Municipality-9 Tityang, he has established himself as a farmer by cultivating vegetables and oranges in Tityang, which is connected to the Baglung market, the district headquarters, and has recently started kibi farming.
Thapa began kiwi farming three years ago and has become an inspiration to other farmers in the village.
This year, he reported a yield of 600 quintals of kiwi from 100 plants.
In addition to kiwi, he has also grown lemons. However, after becoming a public representative, he found it challenging to find time to start millet and paddy farming.
Currently, his garden includes 150 lemon trees and 50 orange trees. Ward Chair Thapa noted that he purchased a plant from Dailekh for Rs. 500.
At present, kiwi is being sold for Rs. 250 to Rs. 300 per kg in the local market, and he has earned Rs. 2 lakh so far from kiwi sales.
