KATHMANDU: The Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) has decided to join the government to be formed under the leadership of CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.

Oli has staked his claim to the post of Prime Minister with the support of the Nepali Congress after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal failed to secure a confidence vote on Friday.

A meeting of the LSP parliamentary party held on Saturday decided to join the new government and assigned the responsibility of selecting ministers from the party to Chairman Mahantha Thakur, according to party whip Ram Prakash Chaudhary.

UML Chair Oli is poised to be appointed the new Prime Minister on Sunday, with the new ministers likely to be sworn in on the same day.
