Failure to form parliamentary probe committee may lead to obstruction of President’s address, warns NC

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has issued a stern warning, suggesting that President Ram Chandra Poudel could face obstruction in presenting the government’s policies and programs if a parliamentary probe committee was not formed to investigate the cooperative case against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, following a meeting of office bearers held on Monday, hinted at this stance, as conveyed by NC Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat.

Talking to Khabarhub, Dr. Mahat emphasized that parliamentary obstruction will persist until the ruling party forms an investigation committee to probe the cooperative case involving Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

“Our insistence on the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe the cooperative case remains firm. This was reaffirmed during the meeting of office bearers and ex-officers,” stated spokesperson Mahat.

“Failure to form the parliamentary inquiry committee could result in a scenario where the President is compelled to halt the presentation of government policies and programs,” he added.

The Nepali Congress has maintained its stance on demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee.

“The party’s position on the necessity of forming a parliamentary probe committee for the cooperative case remains steadfast,” affirmed Dr. Mahat.
