Bhojpur Gold Cup Football Tournament kicks off on April 21

BHOJPUR: The 7th Mayor Bhojpur Gold Cup Football Tournament is set to commence on April 21 and will run until April 27.

Taking place at the Bhojpur Stadium in Bhojpur district, the tournament will feature eight teams, including two clubs from the ‘A’ division, as announced by the Bhojpur District Football Association.

Church Boys United, the winner of the ‘A’ division league, and the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club, will be among the contenders, stated Prabin Subal, the Association’s Chairperson.

Other participating teams include Georgian Football Club India, Rajarani Football Club (Dhankuta), Dangihat Youth Club (Morang), Sahalesh Youth Club (Siraha), Khotang Bhagwati Sports Club (Khotang), and a team from the organizing Association, as revealed during a press conference today.

The estimated cost for the tournament exceeds Rs 4.9 million, according to the organizers. Bhojpur Municipality has allocated Rs 3 million for the event, while the remaining amount will be covered through sponsorships.

The winning team will receive a prize of Rs 500,000, with the second and third-placed teams each receiving Rs 300,000.

Additionally, awards will be presented to recognize the best player, best goalkeeper, and highest scorer, the organizers announced.
