Maitighar-Baneshwor area opens up for demonstrations and protests



KATHMANDU: The government has announced the lifting of restrictions on staging demonstrations and protests at the Maitighar-Baneshwor area, effective from Saturday.

A decision to lift the ban was made during a meeting of the Security Committee of the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, held on Friday. P

rior to this decision, individuals participating in demonstrations and protests in the area were subject to arrest.

Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, following the removal of restrictions, expressed his acknowledgment of the fundamental right of citizens to engage in peaceful protests and demonstrations.
