Nepal is origin of Vedic Sanatana culture: President Paudel
President Ramchandra Paudel has said Nepal is the place of origin of the Vedic Sanatana culture. Inaugurating the Shreemad Bhagawat Saptah Gyan Mahayagya, a religious program, organized by the Gargi Kanya Gurukula, a school for girls, today, the Head-of-the-State believed that the State will pay special attention for the development of the Gurukula. He highly appreciated the role played by the Gargi Kanya Gurukula Vidyashram school in providing the Vedic education to the girls.
UML Chairman Oli urges transparent approach to Transitional Justice
CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli emphasized that the matter of transitional justice should not be prematurely declared resolved, particularly against the sentiments of the victims. Addressing the Fourth National Conference of Human Rights Defenders organized by the Human Rights Alliance on Tuesday, Chairman Oli underlined the importance of fostering a cooperative relationship with the victims by ensuring transparency in activities related to transitional justice.
Eight die in jeep mishap in Palpa
Eight passengers lost their lives in a jeep accident in Tinau-6, Shikhardanda, Palpa on Tuesday. According to DSP Subarna Shrestha, eight bodies have been recovered from the accident site. The accident occurred around 5 PM on Tuesday when Lu 1 Ja 2371 jeep with passengers was en route to Shikhardanda from Dumre.
NEPSE declines by over 30 points
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), which had risen by 15 points on Monday, saw a significant decline on Tuesday, the third trading day of the week. NEPSE index dropped by 30.56 points, closing at 2,070.59 points. The shares of all sectors experienced a decline, with insurance, development banks, hotels and tourism, production and processing, and microfinance groups facing high losses.
Maoist Chair Prachanda calls for unity among all Maoist forces
Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” emphasized the need for unity among all Maoist forces, urging them to come together for a common cause. Speaking at the state convention of the party at the Nepal Academy in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prachanda made the appeal for collaboration. “Let’s unite all groups within the Maoist front into a single center and front. There’s no time to delay; the longer we wait, the greater the political damage. We must not underestimate the potential loss,” he asserted.
Same sex marriage gets legal recognition
The same sex wedlock of 33-year-old Anju Devi Shrestha of Bardiya and Suprita Gurung, 33, of Tanahu has been legally recognized. Shrestha, a resident of Badhaiyatal-2, Bardiya and Gurung from Bandipur-5, Tanahu are both women. Their marriage got legal recognition with the Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality, Ward No. 2 Office registering the marriage. Shrestha and Gurung turned their love relation into marriage some five years back.
Nepal wins against Maldives by 214 runs in ACC Women’s Premier Cup
Nepal secured a historic victory against Maldives in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, with notable performances from the team’s batters Rubina Chhetry and Puja Mahato. Chasing a target of 228 runs set by Nepal in the match held in Malaysia, Maldives was restricted to just 213 runs in 13.5 overs, claiming a remarkable victory. Maldives, aiming for the massive target, collapsed at 13 runs, and Nepal clinched the victory with a 214-run milestone achievement.
Maoist Center’s first statute convention commences in Kathmandu, discussion among 20 groups
The inaugural session of the first statute convention of the ruling CPN-Maoist Center has officially begun in Kathmandu. Prime Minister and party chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ inaugurated the convention on Tuesday afternoon. According to Maoist Center General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung the discussions on the drafts of the proposed statutes will take place among 20 groups.
