Woman arrested for impersonating a police Sub-Inspector and committing fraud

KATHMANDU: A woman has been arrested on charges of impersonating a Police Sub-Inspector and engaging in fraudulent activities by claiming to be associated with the police.

The arrested individual is Amila Kumari Saud, a 24-year-old resident of Baitadi Purichauri Municipality-6, currently residing in Chandragiri Municipality-14, Kathmandu.

According to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot, she was apprehended by the police on Monday afternoon.

Saud had been involved in deceiving people by presenting herself as a Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Nepal Police.

She allegedly lured a 26-year-old woman from Narayan Nagarpalika-11, Dailekh, promising her a job in the National Investigation Department as a constable and extorting Rs 150,000 in cash.

Based on the complaint filed, the police deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot, arrested her.

In addition to the arrest, items including a Nepal Police uniform, a Police Assistant Inspector’s badge, a nameplate, boots, a belt, and a mobile phone were seized from her possession.
