Rabi Lamichhane’s detention extended for 5 more days

The Kaski District Court has granted permission to extend the detention of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), for an additional five days.

Lamichhane has been in custody at the Kaski District Police Office since October 18, in connection with the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.

Today, he was presented before the court for the seventh time.

Durga Prasai released on bail; but to remain in custody

The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of controversial medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai on bail in a cybercrime case.

The court, under the bench of Judge Bishnu Prasad Awasti, set the bail amount at 40,000 rupees for Prasai’s release. He had been arrested on November 19 following allegations that he falsely claimed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had invested funds from Nepal into Cambodia.

Prasai was taken into custody under charges of electronic transaction offenses as per the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008.

Forex reserves at Rs. 2.25 trillion, sufficient for 15 months of imports

Nepal’s foreign exchange reserves exceeded 2.25 trillion rupees by mid-November of the current fiscal year, according to statistics released by Nepal Rastra Bank on Thursday.

This marks a 10.5 percent increase compared to 2.04 trillion rupees recorded at the end of the last fiscal year in mid-July 2024.

The foreign exchange reserves held by Nepal Rastra Bank alone grew by 8.6 percent, increasing from 1.85 trillion rupees in mid-July to 2 trillion rupees by mid-November.

Maoist Center’s SC meeting postponed

The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of Maoist Center, originally scheduled for today (Thursday), has been postponed.

The meeting was planned for 3 p.m. today to discuss the local level by-elections held on December 1, the upcoming Central Committee meeting, and other contemporary political issues.

However, due to Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s prior commitments, the meeting will now take place tomorrow, Friday, according to the Maoist Central Office.

NPL: Pokhara Avengers defeats Biratnagar Kings in Super Over

Pokhara Avengers defeated Biratnagar Kings in a thrilling Super Over in a match under the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Thursday.

Pokhara’s Raymon starred in the Super Over, which decided the match after these two teams played out a draw for the first time.

He faced Biratnagar Kings’ Sandeep Lamichhane, who bowled the Super Over.

NPL: Janakpur Bolts defeats Kathmandu Gurkhas by 5 wickets

  Janakpur Bolts secured a comfortable 5-wicket victory over Kathmandu Gurkhas in the second match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Thursday.

Batting second after losing the toss, Janakpur chased down the target of 102 runs in just 15.5 overs, scoring 104 runs in the process, at the Kirtipur ground.
